The 2025 CJ Cup Byron Nelson tees off this weekend from TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas, as the PGA Tour season continues.
The world's No. 1 ranked player, Scottie Scheffler, is the overwhelming favorite here at +280 odds at DraftKings.
Next up on the odds board is Jordan Spieth at +1800 odds, followed by Sungjae Im at +1800. Every other golfer is +2500 or longer to win the tournament.
Here is my CJ Cup Byron Nelson betting card for this weekend, including golf best bets and PGA Tour predictions.
2025 CJ Cup Byron Nelson Predictions
The biggest strength for Mackenzie Hughes has always been his short game. It's not that he can't have nice ball striking weeks, but they tend to be few and far between.
However, he has been positive in all four strokes gained categories in each of his last three events, posting finishes of T3, T10, and T36.
If his current ball striking holds up, and he comes through with one of his elite putting performances, he could easily find his way into the winner's circle this week.
I like his form and the fact that he's playing this event for the fourth year in a row.
Much like last week's first-time winner, Ben Griffin, Eric Cole is a golfer who I've bet a ton over the last two years.
He has so many high-end finishes, but he's yet to cross the finish line in first on a Sunday. At least not on the PGA Tour. He has over 50 career wins on the minor tours.
While he's not a bomber off the tee, he's one of the best birdie makers on the PGA Tour. He can get hot with his irons and regularly gains 5+ strokes on the greens.
He comes into the event in solid form, posting top-20 finishes in three of his last four events. In his only appearance here, he finished T23 in 2023.
I missed the +10000 number that was available early in the week, but I'm not going to be on the sidelines if Alejandro Tosti picks up his first win here.
Tosti is not a golfer who is going to rate out well in the stat models, but he's one of the longest hitters on the PGA Tour and seems to love playing in Texas. He's contended at the Houston Open twice and gained a career-high 11.3 strokes tee to green in his last start (also in Texas).
He missed the cut here last year, but he actually gained 6.6 strokes tee to green in the process. He just couldn't make a putt.
I like the big number for a golfer who is striping the ball at the moment.
Riley is another golfer who doesn't look great in stat models, especially if you are using any long-term statistics. However, he's a 2-time winner on the PGA TOUR and has been quietly playing some excellent golf over the last few months. He posted top 10s at the Puerto Rico Open and the Valspar Championship, and then finished T21 at The Masters. He's had 2 recent events where he's gained over 6 strokes on approach, and he's gained strokes putting in 13 of his last 15 starts. He's also played well at this course, posting finishes of T30 and T9.

2025 CJ Cup Byron Nelson Course Preview: TPC Craig Ranch
TPC Craig Ranch is one of the easiest courses in the PGA Tour rotation. In terms of difficulty, it has ranked 45th, 44th, 47th, and 47th in the four years the event has been held here. The winning scores during that stretch have all been at least 23-under par.
Essentially, you have to get hot and stay hot for four rounds to win here.
The course is a par-71 that measures over 7,500 yards. With wide fairways and long holes, this has certainly catered to the bombers over the years. The greens here are large (6,800 square feet) and easy to hit in regulation. This places less of an emphasis on around the green play. If you are constantly having to scramble in a birdie fest, you are already behind the 8-ball.
There isn't an extremely strong course fit for TPC Craig Ranch. While the course sets up well for bombers, we've seen K.H. Lee win here twice.
Ultimately, this event is all about making birdies. Good ball striking and a hot putter tends to go a long way at this venue.
