The Charlotte Hornets and their explosive offense travel to Texas on Monday to take on the Mavericks in Dallas.

The Hornets (15-13) have the second-best offense in the league, according to the NBA's adjusted offense metric. While they're an island away from the Utah Jazz in that advanced statistic, they're ahead of the Golden State Warriors, Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns.

Charlotte's defense, however, is ranked the worst in the NBA. It makes for an interesting dichotomy and should normally suggest they would be a particularly tricky team to bet on, but their record this season indicates otherwise.

The Hornets are a very solid 17-11 against the spread, the second-best mark in the NBA behind the Chicago Bulls, who are 17-10.

Charlotte is 7-3 ATS in its last 10 contests and is 5-5 straight up.

LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier will miss tonight's game after they were placed on the COVID list last week.

Meanwhile, the Mavericks (13-13) have been limping through the season but still sit No. 7 in the Western Conference.

The market has generally been bearish on the Mavs this season. Dallas is being priced lower and lower — especially relative to its market standing at the beginning of the season — on account of its bottom-tier 11-15 against-the-spread record.

The Mavericks are 4-6 in their last 10 games against the spread and 4-6 straight up as well.

Dallas ranks No. 15 overall in adjusted defense and No. 22 overall in adjusted offense.

Luka Doncic will miss this game with an ankle problem, meaning the top two stars slated for this contest won't suit up.
