Shortly after 3:30 p.m. ET Tuesday, news broke that Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant would miss Game 3 of the NBA Finals due to his lingering calf injury.
In a game that has already seen plenty of line movement, oddsmakers once again were forced to adjust, this time to stay ahead of the Durant news.
After topping out at Warriors -6, Raptors money began to hit the market early Tuesday morning, pushing the number down to Toronto +5.5.
And with KD now out for Game 3, the line fell another half-point to +5 at most sportsbooks across the market, including the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook. (Update 7:45 p.m. ET: Later Tuesday evening, it dipped even lower to a consensus number of +4.5.)
Interestingly, the over/under didn't budge on the news, remaining at 213 at Westgate.
The biggest question surrounding Game 3 now revolves around Klay Thompson's ability to play — and play effectively — after leaving Sunday's Game 2 with left hamstring tightness.
At the time of writing, 60% of tickets and 62% of money wagered on the spread have come down on the Raptors, while bettors are still expecting this game to land over the total.
