Friday NBA Odds, Betting Trends: Heat vs. Knicks, Suns vs. Pelicans Among Most Popular Public Picks

Well, it didn’t take long for fireworks to erupt post-All-Star Break.
Bulls guard DeMar DeRozan opened the second half of the NBA season with a 37-piece on Thursday night against Atlanta, including the game-winner.
Friday’s big slate, meanwhile, features a majority of teams making their first appearance in more than a week.
And the public was quick to take a stance on these betting sides.

Heat (-6) vs. Knicks

Bettors are loading up on the favorites in this Eastern Conference tilt.
Miami is attracting 90% of the tickets vs. New York, the highest in Friday’s tracker.
Heat vs. Knicks is also the most-wagered game at the time of writing, pulling in north of 15,000 wagers on the spread alone.
76ers (-2) vs. Timberwolves
8 p.m. ET
Another road favorite getting a high-volume ticket count is Philadelphia: 89% of the public is laying it with the Sixers, who have covered seven of the last nine over the Timberwolves.
Spurs (-3) vs. Wizards
8 p.m. ET
How about some more road chalk?
San Antonio is barely behind Philly in ticket count, with 88% of the bets.
The Wizards were the second-worst bet in the first half of the season, compiling a bleak 23-34-1 record against the spread (40.4%).
Suns (-6.5) vs. Pelicans
9 p.m. ET
Bettors apparently aren’t fazed by Chris Paul’s absence.
The Suns — who own the best record in basketball — are garnering 77% of the wagers vs. the disgruntled Pelicans.
Mavericks (+5.5) vs. Jazz
9 p.m. ET
Dallas, which has covered six of the last seven outings, is shaping up to be the biggest public ‘dog of the night.
The Mavericks are generating 73% of the tickets, rounding out Friday’s most-popular bets.
