NBA Player Props & Picks
Terry Rozier, Over 2.5 3-Pointers Made (+100)
|Time | TV||7:30 p.m. ET | NBA League Pass|
The Charlotte Hornets and the Toronto Raptors will play the second game of a home-and-home series tonight in Toronto. The Raptors won in convincing fashion on Tuesday night 132-120. Both teams shot the ball well from beyond the arc, and I expect that to continue tonight. Terry Rozier is the one player I am zoning in on to continue his great shooting.
In the Tuesday night loss, Rozier scored 33 points on 14-19 shooting from the field and 5-9 from the 3-point line. Rozier has not been a stranger to lighting it up against the Raptors in his career. In fact, Rozier has made at least three 3-pointers against the Raptors in seven of his last nine career games.
The Raptors are struggling to defend the 3-point line this season. According to NBA.com/stats, over the last 10 games, the Raptors are allowing their opponents to make close to 13 3-pointers per game, which ranks 19th.
Furthermore, the Raptors are allowing opposing teams to shoot 39.2% from beyond the arc in the same span, which ranks 27th.
This means they will be challenged again by Rozier, who has played five games in the new year while shooting 39.6% from beyond the arc and making 3.8 3s per game on close to 10 attempts per game. I expect the hot shooting to continue tonight for Rozier, and with this volume, he can potentially cash for us even without his best performance.
Josh Giddey, Over 15.5 Points (-106)
|Time | TV||7 p.m. ET | NBA League Pass|
Thunder Aussie Josh Giddey is averaging 17.8 points per game while shooting 40.9% from beyond the arc in 2023. He has gone over this projection of 15.5 points in seven out of the last nine games for the Thunder. He had success in this matchup on New Year’s Eve when he scored a team-high 20 points on 9-15 shooting against the 76ers.
In addition, Giddey has faced the Sixers three times in his career and has scored 16 or more points in two of the three games. It seems the Sixers are making an effort to slow down Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, which will open up opportunities for Giddey. Expect that to continue tonight in this matchup and bet Giddey’s point total over 15.5 points with value up to 17.5 points.
