  • Sharp action has hit two matchups on Wednesday's NBA slate: Pistons-Heat (7:30 p.m. ET) and Jazz-Suns (10:30 p.m. ET).
  • Sports Insights' Bet Signals and betting market percentages reveal which bets the pros are making.

Over the next couple of weeks, college basketball will steal the spotlight from the professional game (for good reason, obviously). But since sharp bettors' sole focus is value, there's no reason for them to limit themselves to college hoops.

In fact, they've caused some significant line moves by hammering two plays on tonight's NBA board. Let's take a look.

Detroit Pistons @ Miami Heat

7:30 p.m. ET

Sharp angle: Under (moved from 212.5 to 208.5)

As they generally do, public bettors have gravitated to the over on this matchup. No one wants to root against an exciting, high-scoring game, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that this over has drawn 62% of bettors.

That backing actually makes it the most popular overs on Wednesday's six-game slate, but the total has fallen four points since opening — far more than any other tonight.

The 38% of bettors on the under have generated an impressive 81% of actual money being wagered on the total. That certainly creates a monetary liability for sportsbooks, but perhaps more importantly, the bets vs. money discrepancy reveals that bigger bettors — the ones more likely to be sharps — are among the minority on the under.

Three Sports Insights Bet Signals have confirmed the sharp action on the under. They've revealed pros causing market-wide line shifts by taking the under at 210, 209.5 and again at 209, resulting in the current number.

Utah Jazz @ Phoenix Suns

10:30 p.m. ET

Sharp angle: Jazz (moved from -7 to -8.5)

Just as public bettors tend to flock to overs, they also usually find themselves backing the favorite. It's just easier to stomach placing a bet on the better team.

In this case, sharps actually seem to agree.

As was the case above, the percentage of money on the Jazz is significantly higher than the percentage of bets. The 65% of bettors behind Utah have generated 90% of actual dollars on the matchup, and while a figure like 90% is likely to drop approaching game time, the discrepancy is large enough to account for a fairly significant fall.

Professional bettors have also triggered five SI Bet Signals on Utah — more than any other NBA play tonight. By hitting the Jazz at numbers ranging from -7 to -8, they've caused oddsmakers to rethink this line, which now sits at -8.5.
