Spurs vs 76ers NBA Preview

In February, the Spurs were the NBA's best team as they went undefeated.

They knocked off the Thunder, Lakers, Warriors, Suns, Pistons, and Raptors and pulled within 1.5 games of the Thunder for the top seed in the Western Conference.

However, the turn of the month saw their 11-game winning streak come to an end as they lost to the Knicks 114-89 on Sunday afternoon.

De'Aaron Fox scored just seven points on 3-for-10 from the field.

He has drawn some criticism from some corners of Spurs fans as his scoring average is a bit down and he is averaging 15.1 points per game over his last 10 games.

However, from an efficiency standpoint, he is having one of his best seasons as he has the second-best offensive rating, two-point field goal percentage, and true shooting percentage while having his lowest usage rate since his second NBA season.

His usage rate is down because he is sharing a backcourt with Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper, a pair of top four picks in the last two drafts. Harper, a New Jersey native, is likely enjoying the team's trip back East.

He scored 12 points against the Nets and eight against the Knicks on Sunday.

The team's trip will conclude tonight in Philadelphia before returning home for another matchup with the Pistons.

Victor Wembanyama is the heavy favorite to win Defensive Player of the Year.

However, as a rookie, Joel Embiid went for 70 points and 18 rebounds against him.

Tonight, Wembanyama will not have to worry about that matchup as Embiid will be out once again with a right oblique strain.

The 76ers dropped to 1-5 in their last six games without him.

The Sixers did give the Celtics a challenge on Sunday for most of the way, but the Celtics pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 114-98 victory.

Tyrese Maxey started 4-for-18 from the field, but finished with 33 points and six assists.

He has scored 25 points in each of his last 10 games with six assists in each of his last five games. He will face another difficult matchup from the Spurs defense, so it will be interesting to see who steps up tonight to help him.

Lately, Kelly Oubre Jr. had been that guy without Embiid and Paul George, but he was held to four points on 2-for-10 from the field against Boston.

Meanwhile, VJ Edgecombe had 23 points and five rebounds. He may relish his minutes against Harper tonight, who was taken one spot above him last June.

Spurs vs 76ers Predictions, Betting Analysis

Victor Wembanyama Over 10.5 Rebounds

Wembanyama is the league's fifth-leading rebounder at 11.2 rebounds per game.

He has pulled down 11 in seven of his last 10 games with 12 or more in three of his last five games to clear this line.

The 76ers present a strong matchup for him as they are 21st in rebounds allowed this season.

While they are 13th in rebounds allowed in centers, they have been more vulnerable down low of late.

In their last few games, DeAndre Jordan, Bam Adebayo, Neemias Queta, and Nikola Vucevic each had at least 12 rebounds.

Karl-Anthony Towns and Onyeka Okongwu both cleared their lines against Philadelphia as well.

Wembanyama averages 16.4 rebound chances per game this season and 18.2 over the last 10 games.

The Spurs rank third in defensive rating, so the extra stops give him more opportunities for rebounds.

This is a game where I lean towards the under despite the recent trends in the series.

If that is the case, I like Wembanyama's chances of going over his rebounds line.

De'Aaron Fox 5+ Assists

While with the Kings, Fox had five assists in two of his last three games against the Sixers.

He has been extremely consistent in that area of late with five assists in 18 of his last 20 games.

Philadelphia is 22nd in assists allowed this season.

Tyrese Maxey 6+ Assists

Maxey has recorded six assists in his last five games as well as in each of his last three games against the Spurs.

While the Spurs recently held Cade Cunningham and Jalen Brunson under their points line, they both had seven assists or more.

VJ Edgecombe 15+ Points

Edgecombe may be a beneficiary of a few of Maxey's assists.

He has scored 19 points in five of his last six games while knocking two 3s in four of those games.
