Boise State Basketball

The Broncos come into this matchup riding a four-game win streak that immediately followed a four-game losing streak. As evident, Boise State has seen its fair share of ups and downs throughout the season, but this recent stretch of good play is a great sign moving forward.

The caveat to the four-game winning streak is that two of those wins came against Air Force and San Jose State, by far the worst two teams in the Mountain West. The Broncos beat the Falcons by 42 and the Spartans by 31, though, and the convincing margins of victory in those games are positive signs.

Boise State carries momentum into this game, but we've already seen these two face off earlier in the season, with Grand Canyon winning 75-58 on the road. Andrew Meadow struggled to assert himself offensively in that game, scoring just nine points and only taking two shots from the field.

The Broncos' leading scorer for the season — Drew Fielder — chipped in with 10 points and shot 2-for-2 from the field, but excluding Fielder's numbers from behind the arc, Boise State shot just 2-for-17 from 3-point land.

If the Broncos shoot like that again, it's going to be a long night, and very likely another loss.

Grand Canyon Basketball

Grand Canyon has also been playing great basketball recently, winning three straight before an overtime loss to Nevada earlier in the week. The Antelopes' winning streak included handing Utah State its first conference loss of the season (also one of only three Aggie losses for the entire season).

Nevada's only losses of the season have come against the top three teams in the MWC on KenPom (Utah State, New Mexico, San Diego State), with two of those losses coming on the road. So, the Antelopes forcing overtime against the Wolf Pack is a sign of a team playing high-level basketball at the moment.

When Grand Canyon faced off with Boise State earlier in the season, Jaden Henley was amazing for the Antelopes, scoring 22 points on an efficient 9-for-15 from the floor.

Boise State's frontcourt lacks high-end size, with the tallest starter (Dominic Parolin) standing at 6-foot-9, but three starters are 6-foot-7 or above, making it slightly surprising that Henley took over so easily.

If Henley can replicate anywhere near the level of success he had when these teams faced off in early January, expect 7-foot-1 big man Efe Demirel — who had 13 points and eight rebounds (three offensive) in the first matchup — to have a great game again, and Grand Canyon's frontcourt to lead it to a victory.

Boise State vs. Grand Canyon Betting Analysis

As I mentioned previously, these two teams played earlier in the season. Grand Canyon went on the road and defeated Boise State 75-58, despite shooting just 6-for-21 from the floor.

The Antelopes took an 18-point lead in that game with 15:27 left in the second half and kept the Broncos from bringing the game back to a respectable margin throughout the rest of that half. They only faced real danger when Boise State cut the lead to 51-47 with 9:26 left. Grand Canyon responded with an 8-0 run and never looked back.

This game should favor Grand Canyon even more, as the Antelopes are playing on their home court, which is ranked 32nd-hardest in the country by KenPom's home court advantage metric.

With the Antelopes already defeating the Broncos earlier in the season on the road, it's impossible to pick against them at home.

My Pick: Grand Canyon ML -120
