Michigan vs Arizona College Basketball Betting Preview

In a game many have marked down as the virtual National Championship — given how dominant both Michigan and Arizona have been all year long — Saturday’s Final Four matchup is definitely one of the most difficult handicaps of the entire tournament.

For two teams that have been unstoppable when it comes to generating offense inside the paint, I believe the ultimate difference maker will be the number of scoring avenues each offense has.

While Arizona’s interior has thrived on the offensive end of the floor against some of the nation’s top defenses — including Houston and Iowa State, amongst many others — the Wildcats have had difficulty generating offense from beyond the arc.

When it comes to assessing championship contenders, a team’s ability to convert from 3-point land is up there as one of the biggest factors I consider.

For a truly ridiculous Wildcats offensive arsenal, it's very surprising that Arizona’s production from downtown has accounted for just 20% of the team’s points this season, which ranks 361st in college basketball.

Aside from its star freshman guard Brayden Burries, the rest of the Wildcats' offense has largely struggled to accumulate points from deep.

Arizona has completely outmatched all of its opponents thus far, with them all having zero answer to their interior presence offensively. But now the Wildcats finally meet a defense in Michigan that can shut off the center of the paint due to its incredible size and physicality near the basket.

While I've been incredibly high on this Arizona bunch since November, for the first time, I'm relatively concerned about its lack of 3-point shooting prowess.

Michigan vs Arizona Betting Analysis

Though I'm surely conflicted with futures’ exposure on both sides of this matchup, I think Dusty May’s bunch has the experience, offensive versatility and defensive prowess you look for in a national champion.

While it appears most are siding with Arizona, I favor the Wolverines and believe that Michigan will go on to cut down the nets for its first national title in nearly 40 years.

My Pick: Michigan ML -125
