Oklahoma State vs Oklahoma College Basketball Betting Preview

Oklahoma State Basketball

There are fewer than 15 unbeatens remaining in college basketball, and the Oklahoma State Cowboys are one of them.

It was a bumpy first season for Steve Lutz with a completely new roster, but things are starting to take off in 25-26.

The Pokes have scored 84+ in every game to date in this season, showcasing an offense that is generating a lot of easy buckets at the rim, as well as plenty of clean looks from outside the arc.

Every time I watch this team play, they're always playing an unselfish brand of basketball with guys making the extra pass.

It's not perfect on the defensive end, but there has been progress there as well. Nothing is coming easy for opponents.

UWGB transfer Anthony Roy has been scoring it in a variety of different ways on the perimeter, and Oregon State transfer Parsa Fallah gives the Cowboys a force in the paint who can feast on the glass and also alter a lot of shots on the defensive end.

If there's one area Ok State should be able to improve as the year goes on, it's taking care of the basketball.

Lutz’s team plays at a frenetic pace which can sometimes lead to chaotic situations, but it currently ranks outside the top 190 in turnover percentage. I'd expect the turnovers to go down as continuity continues to develop with this nucleus.

Oklahoma Basketball

Porter Moser has had a three very solid teams in his early tenure in Norman, but he's still looking for a team to really break through and compete for an SEC title.

Expectations were high entering this season, as the Sooners cleaned up in the transfer portal, bringing in the likes of Nijel Pack, Tae Davis, and Xzayvier Brown.

Davis came over from Notre Dame, and is extremely versatile, having the ability to score it with a face up game, but also with his back to the basket.

Pack is one of the more experienced guards in America, and was a key driver in Miami's run to the Final Four a few years ago. When he gets hot, he can score it with just about anybody.

Oklahoma really needs to clean it up on the defensive end, where it currently ranks outside the top 115 in Ken Pom's adjDE rankings.

In the three early nonconference losses to Gonzaga, Nebraska, and Arizona State, all three got open look after open look, and went for 83, 105, and 86 respectively.

Those are all good offensive teams, but the level of effort was nowhere near good enough for a team that has lofty aspirations.

Oklahoma State can also really score it, so OU will need to guard much better to have a chance to win on Saturday afternoon.

The defensive glass will also be important as the Pokes attack the rim on missed shots, and defensive rebounding has also not been a strength for the Sooners.

The Oklahoma offense has been very efficient most of the year, and it will need to be in this one in what very well could be a game where first to 80 or 90 wins.

Oklahoma State vs. Oklahoma Betting Analysis

Bedlam may be on pause in football but the show goes on on the hardwood.

Both of these teams have NCAA Tournament aspirations and this is an important tilt for each to pick up a quality nonconference win.

I love what Steve Lutz is doing in year two in Stillwater and I think the Pokes have a good chance of making life difficult for the Sooners in this one.

I would not be shocked in the slightest if this game comes right down to the wire between two evenly matched teams, so give me Cowboys catching more than 2.5 in what should be a fun one in OKC.

My Pick: Oklahoma State +2.5 (Play to +3)
