Stanford vs Miami College Basketball Betting Preview
Stanford Basketball
Stanford sits at 14-6 overall and 3-4 in the ACC after its loss against Cal.
The good news for Stanford is that it has Ebuka Okorie.
The bad news for Stanford is that it has no frontcourt help with Chisom Okpara out for the year.
Okorie is coming off his worst performance of the season, too, shooting 1-of-16 from the field against Cal.
With back-to-back frustrating games, Stanford will want to do everything it can to get its star player going.
Though Okorie has had his struggles lately, Stanford has found a spark off the bench in Jeremy Dent-Smith. Dent-Smith is averaging 19 points per game in the last three games while shooting 55% from 3.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Stanford slide Dent-Smith into the starting lineup for this game to take some pressure off of Okorie, which would give a much-needed spark to this offense.
Miami Basketball
Miami comes into this matchup 16-4 overall and 5-2 in the ACC after its 85-76 win against Syracuse.
Jai Lucas has done an incredible job in year one, as he has his team guarding at a high level.
Last year, Miami had one of the worst defenses in the country, ranking 339th in defensive efficiency. This season, the Hurricanes rank 33rd.
Miami has given up an average of 72 points per game in ACC play this season and has given up less than 70 points in three of its last four games.
Malik Reneau is playing at a first-team All-ACC level for the Hurricanes, averaging 19.7 points per game while scoring in double figures every game this season.
The one hiccup for Miami is its inconsistency on offense. As good as Reneau has been scoring the ball, he and his teammates turn over the basketball at one of the higher rates in the ACC. In the last three games, Reneau has 14 turnovers and Miami has had 46 overall.
Talented freshman Shelton Henderson has had five straight games of scoring 16 points or more and will be a tough matchup for a Stanford team that lost Okpara.
Stanford vs. Miami Betting Analysis
Lucas has been a miracle worker with this defense so far in year one and now faces a good test in guarding Okorie.
The last time Miami faced an opponent that had a player who could create his own shot was Wake Forest's Juke Harris, who scored 28 points.
Stanford knows that if it wants to win this game, Okorie has to get it going early. With the help of Dent-Smith, Stanford will look to knock down 3s against a bottom-tier 3-point defense.
As for Miami, Reneau and Henderson will continue to be aggressive, attacking the rim against a Stanford defense that doesn't have the size or strength to guard them.
Also, our Action PRO projections have this total up near 151.5, which gives us nearly six points of value at the current line (as of writing). This is marked as a high grade of A-, making me like this bet even more.

My Pick: Over 145.5 (Play to 150)
