Chargers vs Raiders Moneyline Prediction
By Brit Devine
I saw all I needed to see from the Chargers in Week 1 to put them in the elite tier of the NFL.
Instead of leaning on the run, they finally let Justin Herbert cook against what should be one of the better defenses in the league (the Chiefs).
The preseason talk from head coach Jim Harbaugh about his love for Herbert seems to be coming to fruition. The Chargers look like they might have one of the best WR rooms in the league to pair with an incoming breakout season for Herbert.
It looks very clear that this offense is going to move the ball at will, and they should flirt with being the top unit in the league if healthy.
The Raiders had to travel across the country to New England for Week 1 and then all the way back, and even though this game is on Monday night, the Chargers will have a significant two-day rest advantage.
Pick: Chargers Moneyline (-172)
Chargers vs Raiders Over/Under Prediction
By Billy Ward
After a low-scoring Week 1, overs were the theme of Week 2 with 10 of the 14 games completed all going over the total.
I’m buying into that trend continuing on Monday night, when two below-average defenses in the Chargers and the Raiders face off.
While the Raiders held the Patriots to 13 points in Week 1, they’re facing a far more talented Chargers unit tonight that looked good against the Chiefs in Brazil.
The Chargers' three-headed monster at wide receiver — Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnson and Keenan Allen — might be the league’s best, while rookie running back Omarion Hampton gives them a real threat on the ground.
Though the Raiders aren’t nearly as potent through the air, Ashton Jeanty should have a much easier go of it after being bottled up by the Patriots' tough run defense.
Line movement has pushed this total up a couple points to 46.5, but I’m riding with the sharp action and betting that it clears the higher mark as well.
Pick: Over 46.5 (-110)
Keenan Allen Anytime Touchdown Pick
Keenan Allen is getting up there in age, but he's never been a guy who relies on speed. He got tons of volume in Week 1 with 10 targets (including one target in the red zone).
He's still a receiver Justin Herbert can rely on; Allen has 15 TDs in his last 29 games (eight in the last 14 games played with Herbert).
While Ladd McConkey commands most of the attention in the Chargers' offense, Allen should still get his volume — and with the Chargers passing at one of the highest rates in the league in Week 1, there should be enough looks to go around.
I have the true odds here around +210, making this a great bet.
Pick: Keenan Allen Anytime Touchdown (+265)
Quentin Johnston Anytime Touchdown Prop
By Grant Neiffer
The Chargers had the highest pass rate over expectation in Week 1, and while I don't expect that to fully continue, it's a good sign.
Quentin Johnston had a massive game in Week 1 with two touchdowns and five receptions on seven targets. He led the team with two red-zone targets on three total red-zone passes by Herbert.
While I still expect Johnston to be the 2a or 2b WR to McConkey in this offense, Johnson has some great TD equity with 10 TDs since the beginning of last season.
I have the true odds here around +210, making this a great bet.
Pick: Quentin Johnston Anytime Touchdown (+260)
