Montreal Canadiens Betting Preview

The Canadiens got off to a strong start in this series, winning Game 1 on the road with a 6-2 victory over the Hurricanes. While it remains to be seen whether the Canadiens can win both road games to open the series, there is value on the +1.5 puck line for them to keep the game close.

Montreal has been consistent this postseason, keeping games competitive even in defeat. Through 15 playoff games, the Canadiens have covered the +1.5 puck line in 13 contests.

A key factor in that success has been goaltender Jakub Dobes. He has started all 15 games, posting a .911 save percentage and a 2.48 goals-against average.

Carolina Hurricanes Betting Preview

Across the ice, Frederik Andersen is expected to start once again for Carolina. He struggled in Game 1, allowing five goals on 21 shots for a .762 save percentage.

It was another difficult outing for Andersen against Montreal, a team that has given him trouble. Over the past five meetings, he is 1-4 with a .811 save percentage and a 3.52 goals-against average.

With these goaltenders trending in opposite directions, and Andersen’s track record against Montreal, there is value in backing the Canadiens to cover the puck line again.

Canadiens vs. Hurricanes Prediction

There is no denying that Carolina was the stronger two-way team during the regular season. However, Montreal has consistently challenged the Hurricanes.

Dating back to last season, the Canadiens have won each of the past five meetings against the Hurricanes. Carolina could respond in Game 2, but Montreal has shown it can remain competitive.

Carolina has also failed to cover the -1.5 puck line in three of its past four games.

Pick: Canadiens +1.5 at Polymarket (-135 | Play to -140)
