With the 2026 WNBA season in full swing, The Action Network has carried out an analysis of the most foul-mouthed WNBA fandoms, analyzing over 160,000 comments from the subreddits of all 15 WNBA fandoms to find out which fans are the most polite and, on the contrary, which fandoms are the most foul-mouthed. Additionally, the analysis also uncovered which WNBA fandoms are the most positive and which fans are the most negative.

- The Connecticut Sun were found to be the most foul-mouthed WNBA fandom, with 3.14% of their comments containing swear words, ahead of the Chicago Sky (2.96% of comments including swear words) and the Minnesota Lynx (2.65% of comments including swear words).
- The Chicago Sky were found to be the most negative WNBA fandom, with 27.95% of their comments carrying a negative tone, ahead of the Connecticut Sun (24.64% of comments carrying a negative tone) and the Los Angeles Sparks (24.17% of comments carrying a negative tone).
- The Portland Fire were found to be the most positive WNBA fandom, with 58.74% of their comments carrying a positive tone, ahead of the Dallas Wings (58.73% of comments carrying a positive tone) and the Washington Mystics (58.01% of comments carrying a positive tone).
- The Portland Fire were also found to be the most polite WNBA fandom, with only 1.10% of their comments containing swear words, ahead of the Toronto Tempo (1.16% of comments including swear words) and the Golden State Valkyries (1.17% of comments including swear words).
The Most Foul-Mouthed WNBA Fandoms
Each fandom was assigned a percentage value based on the proportion of comments on their subreddit that contained swear words. The Connecticut Sun topped the list as the most foul-mouthed WNBA fandom, with 3.14% of their comments containing swear words. The Chicago Sky followed closely behind in second, with 2.96% of their comments including swear words, ahead of the Minnesota Lynx in third, with 2.65% of their comments including swear words. The Los Angeles Sparks rounded out the top four with 2.47% of comments including swear words, while the Phoenix Mercury completed the top five with 2.33% of comments including swear words.
The Most Negative WNBA Fandoms
Each comment was also analyzed using a sentiment analysis tool and classified as positive, negative, or neutral. The Chicago Sky were found to be the most negative WNBA fandom, with 27.95% of their comments carrying a negative tone. The Connecticut Sun followed in second, with 24.64% of their comments carrying a negative tone, ahead of the Los Angeles Sparks in third, with 24.17% of their comments carrying a negative tone. The Phoenix Mercury placed fourth with 23.44% of comments carrying a negative tone, while the Indiana Fever completed the top five with 23.07% of comments carrying a negative tone.
The Most Positive WNBA Fandoms
The same sentiment analysis was used to determine which fandoms produced the highest proportion of positive comments. The Portland Fire were found to be the most positive WNBA fandom, with 58.74% of their comments carrying a positive tone. The Dallas Wings followed closely behind in second, with 58.73% of their comments carrying a positive tone, ahead of the Washington Mystics in third, with 58.01% of their comments carrying a positive tone. The Atlanta Dream placed fourth with 57.65% of comments carrying a positive tone, while the Golden State Valkyries completed the top five with 57.10% of comments carrying a positive tone.
The Most Polite WNBA Fandoms
At the opposite end of the foul-mouthed rankings are the fandoms with the lowest proportion of comments containing swear words. The Portland Fire were found to be the most polite WNBA fandom, with only 1.10% of their comments including swear words. The Toronto Tempo followed in second, with 1.16% of their comments including swear words, ahead of the Golden State Valkyries in third, with 1.17% of their comments including swear words. The Indiana Fever placed fourth with 1.43% of comments including swear words, while the Dallas Wings completed the top five with 1.49% of comments including swear words.

Methodology
- Collection Period: Last 12 months.
- In total, 160,523 comments from 15 subreddits of the 2026 WNBA fandoms were analyzed, looking for comments that contained swear words.
- Each fandom was assigned a percentage value based on the % of the comments on their subreddit that contained swear words.
- In total, 3,112 swear words were found.
- Additionally, the emotional tone of each comment was assessed and categorized as either negative, positive or neutral.
- Minimum number of comments collected per fandom: 2,500.
- The final analysis was carried out in July 2026.
