Brazil enters this duel as a clear favorite, but I wouldn't rule Japan out. While I expect Brazil to find the net given their attacking talent and the fact they have scored in each of their last 11 matches across all competitions, I also believe they have shown significant defensive vulnerabilities. They are particularly vulnerable to teams that thrive in transition and attack effectively out wide, which Japan is more than capable of doing. Yes, Brazil recorded two clean sheets in the group stage, but those came against Haiti and Scotland. Prior to those matches, they had gone six consecutive games without keeping a clean sheet. On the other side, Japan is unbeaten in its last ten matches and has scored at least once in every single one. They have found the net against Scotland, England, twice against the Netherlands, and against Paraguay. Most notably, Japan defeated Brazil 3:2 in October 2025. The squads have changed somewhat since then, with Japan in particular missing some of the talent from that meeting. Still, I believe they have the tools to trouble Brazil again, especially if Brazil commits too many players forward and leaves space to exploit in transition.

This is closer to a coin toss than it is +450 odds for a Japan win. The Japanese have been coherent as a unit, they're hard working and even beat Brazil 3-2 when these teams met last October.
