Following a ho-hum 1-1-1 third round, we’ve got one last chance to chase some matchup bets for the Sentry Tournament of Champions final round.
And for the second time this week, I’m fading the leader.
Season Record: 8-8-2 (+0.09 units)
Andrew Putnam (+130) over Paul Casey (-150)
This is a classic case of … Fade the guy who just went low. Casey tied the best score of the third round with a 5-under 68, but Putnam has quietly pieced together a solid week. Give me the guy who hasn’t gone too low yet.
Rory McIlroy (-150) over Gary Woodland (+130)
I’m a firm believer in Woodland. I think he’s a better player than he’s often given credit for, due to a resume that doesn’t include as many wins as it should.
He can — and very well might — win Sunday, but he won’t do it without a little heat from his fellow contenders. McIlroy is starting to feel comfortable in his first tour around Kapalua; expect him to be breathing down his playing partner’s neck all day.
Aaron Wise (-165) over Brice Garnett (+145)
I took this matchup on Saturday and they tied through 18 holes. Well, I’ve never been scared of a press, so let’s let it ride in the same matchup for the final round, as I still think Wise has a low one in him.
