NBA First Basket Prop Pick: Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr.

The Denver Nuggets will host the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals on Thursday night.  Nikola Jokic (48% opening tip win rate) will face off against Anthony Davis (59% win rate) for the opening tip-off.  Davis has won three of four opening tip-offs versus Jokic this season.

In  Game 1, we had an odd tip-off where the ball hit the floor before anyone grabbed it. Austin Reaves missed the first shot attempt, then LeBron James got the rebound and made a layup for the first basket.

At this stage of the playoffs, we are starting to see an increase in the number of shot attempts needed to make the first basket as each team has a more intense focus on the defensive end of the floor.

After Jokic's impressive stat line in Game 1, it wouldn't surprise me to see the Lakers double him more in Game 2. Jamal Murray put up the first two attempts for Denver in Game 1 and I think we'll see Murray drive the lane or Jokic get the ball low and kick it out to either Murray or Michael Porter Jr. for an open 3 to start the game.
