With the NBA regular season concluding today, all 30 teams are in action. However, there is only one game that features two teams that still have something to play for: the Pelicans vs. the Timberwolves.
Both teams are still fighting for playoff/play-in positioning, and I fully expect this matchup to be treated like a quasi-playoff game. Consequently, I’m firing on Pelicans forward Trey Murphy III’s points line today.
Murphy is peaking at the right time, having cleared this line in six of his last nine games. He’s coming off two straight 30-point games and has played at least 36 minutes in each of his last six contests.
I expect the Timberwolves' best perimeter defender, Jaden McDaniels, to take on the Brandon Ingram assignment. And with Rudy Gobert lurking in the paint, both Ingram and CJ McCollum will be hard pressed to get to the basket on their dribble drives. Murphy, one of the premier spot-up shooters in the league, should be the beneficiary on secondary action.
Overall, Murphy is rolling, and I expect his confidence to carry over into game 82. I have the sophomore projected at 22 points today and would play this line up to over 18.5 points.
