Nikola Jokic, you might have heard of him? The reigning two-time MVP is putting together yet another exceptional season for the Western Conference leading Nuggets. However, tonight, I’m looking to fade Joker on his points line.
Jokic is averaging 24.8 points per game this season. Of late, he’s been the beneficiary of some soft matchups, which has led to lofty point totals for the Nuggets big man (31 against the Wizards and 30 against the Pistons, within the last 10 days).
But the truth is, Jokic hasn’t cleared this line with regularity this season. Since the All-Star break, the Serbian is under this points line in nine of 14 games.
And tonight, he gets the tough matchup against Brook Lopez and the Bucks front line. Milwaukee has held opposing players to the second lowest Field Goal Percentage within 10 feet of the basket (55.7%). And specifically against centers, the Bucks defensive field goal percentage of 51.6% leads the league.
Jokic’s supporting cast is fully healthy, and I expect the big man to play the role of facilitator tonight. I have the five-time All Star projected at 22 points tonight, and would play this line down to under 24.5 points.
