Suns vs Hawks NBA Preview
In November, the Suns and Hawks played one of the best games of the NBA regular season thus far, with Atlanta rallying for a 124-122 victory.
Back then, the Hawks were in the early stages of playing without Trae Young, who was out with a knee injury. Now, they are without him for good as the franchise traded him to the Wizards earlier this month.
It has been an uneasy transition. The team has lost four of six games since the trade and ranks 24th or worse in offensive, defensive, and net ratings.
Jalen Johnson has continued to ascend to stardom this season, though he had three consecutive games with 12 or 13 as CJ McCollum was integrated.
He appears to have figured things out as he has 28 points, 16 rebounds, and six assists and 32 points, 16 rebounds, and eight assists in his last two games.
Meanwhile, the Suns will be closing out their Eastern Conference road trip tonight. After dropping the first two games, they have won their last three games, most recently 116-110 over the 76ers on Tuesday night.
Devin Booker led six double-figure scorers with 27 points. Interestingly enough, Booker has scored exactly 24 or 27 points in six of his last 10 games, and he also had 27 against the Hawks earlier this season.
In Tuesday's victory, Jalen Green returned to the lineup and scored 12 points in 20 minutes off the bench.
He has been limited to just three games this season because of a hip injury. He will add to a Suns team that is seventh in both 3-pointers and 3-point attempts this season.
With Green back, the Suns will be at full strength for tonight's game. Meanwhile, the Hawks will be without Kristaps Porzingis and Zaccharie Risacher once again.
Suns vs Hawks Predictions, Betting Analysis
Having won three straight and seven of their last 10 games, the Suns enter this game playing at a higher level. Their defense should give them an edge tonight and has fueled their turnaround this season, in the top six in the Western Conference.
This season, the Suns are fourth in defensive rating and have improved to third over their past 10 games.
The Suns also have to be feeling like they let the first matchup slip away, as they took an 18-point lead into the fourth quarter. They can salvage a split in the season series tonight and enter as one of the league's most profitable teams at 30-12-2 against the spread.
The Hawks are 22-24 ATS this season, and five of their last six losses have been by double digits.
I like Booker to lead the way as he has scored 20 points in 17 of his past 20 games and in each of his last five games against the Hawks.
Averaging 25.3 points per game this season, it will be interesting to see if he hits 24 or 27 once again.

The Hawks are 17th in 3-pointers allowed this season and 26th to small forwards.
That should benefit Royce O'Neal, who has knocked down two 3s in each of his last nine games. He is attempting 7.7 3s per game in that span.

Given the team's current success, Green may continue to play off the bench. If that is the case, he has ample opportunity as a playmaker.
Green has recorded three assists in both games he has finished as a Sun. Three will get the job done tonight, but he also totaled 15 potential assists in those games.
If his teammates are knocking down shots, ladder potential is there.

Meanwhile, Johnson is averaging 10.3 rebounds per game this season, and he had 10 rebounds in the first meeting as well.
He has had 11 rebounds in four of his past six games, including in his last two games.
