Lost in the commotion over Dejounte Murray’s breakout season has been the steady play of Devin Vassell. The sophomore guard is averaging 18.2 PRA this season, and 20.6 PRA in the 21 games he’s played since the Derrick White trade.
With Murray ruled out tonight, the Spurs will be in the unfortunate position to try to replace the 39 PRA that their All-Star averages. Over the last three months when Murray has not been on the floor, it’s Vassell who has been one of the main beneficiaries. The sharpshooter averages 25.5 PRA per 30 minutes over the 385 minute sample, including a 3.2% usage bump.
While Keldon Johnson is likely to take on the Spurs’ alpha offensive role, he’ll have a tough individual matchup against the defensively stout Aaron Gordon.
And with Jakob Poeltl having to go toe-to-toe with Nikola Jokic, I love Vassell to shine through tonight. I have the FSU alum projected at 24 PRA.
Pick: Devin Vassell over 21.5 points + rebounds + assists (-113 at FanDuel) | Bet to: 22.5
