Binghamton vs Army College Basketball Betting Preview

Binghamton Basketball

Binghamton comes into this one as losers of 10 of 11 games against Division I opponents this season, with its only victory coming in overtime against Lehigh earlier this month.

The Bearcats can't score the basketball outside of Demetrius Lilley and Jeremiah Quigley, who are both averaging double figures.

The Bearcats are methodical in their approach offensively. We haven't seen them shoot a ton of 3s this season, and they're not making them when they are.

Defensively, the Bearcats have been overmatched much of the way and the last two games have been particularly concerning. Giving up 103 points to Pitt was one thing, but getting blasted by 21 against Mercyhurst in a game in which Binghamton couldn't defend the post was rough to watch.

These Bearcats need the holiday break to regroup, badly.

Army Basketball

Army has proven to be a pesky out this season, as the Black Knights have won four of five and gave George Washington a fight deep into the second half a couple of weeks ago.

The Black Knights aren’t excellent at anything offensively, but guard Ryan Curry can create off the dribble and has done well to find open shots. We won't see a lot of pace from Army, but it does shoot a ton of 3s, often as a result of poorly executed offensive possessions.

Defensively, the Black Knights don’t have a lot of size and they don’t turn you over very frequently, but they do play sound assignment defense and can at least make it difficult for opponents to operate.

I would expect this matchup to favor Army.

Binghamton vs. Army Betting Analysis

This line opened up Army -7.5 with a total set at 143.5. I'm going to hit the under.

Both of these teams operate at a sub-250 tempo and neither is particularly efficient. Binghamton ranks 346th in overall offensive efficiency, per KenPom, and Army ranks 334th.

I would expect each of these two teams to be methodical while working the possession clock down, often resulting in poor low-percentage shots.

Army takes a lot of 3s, but it doesn't make them with regularity. The Black Knights are 275th nationally in 3-point percentage and they're a very poor offensive rebounding team.

We should see a lot of “one and done” possessions for Army. I trust Curry to score, but Jaxson Bell and Jorn Everson have been inconsistent this season and are unable to be counted on to contribute on the offensive end.

Army did a great job of slowing down George Washington and UMBC — who both want to run — and while the Black Knights won't have to worry about that in this game with Binghamton, it confirms that Army doesn't want to play fast.

This game should be played at 65 possessions or less, and with how these two teams have been shooting the ball recently, I would expect this one to finish under the posted total.

My Pick: Under 142.5 (Play to 141.5)
