Central Michigan vs Miami (Ohio) College Basketball Betting Preview

Is it possible that the undefeated, 17-0 Miami RedHawks are still being undervalued?

Honestly, I still don't think they're getting enough respect in the market. I project the RedHawks as over 20-point favorites in this matchup.

College Basketball Projections, Picks: Tanner McGrath's Power Ratings & Score Model Image

Yes, they've played a soft schedule. But they've taken care of business against almost every easy opponent on the schedule (12 double-digit wins), including recently crushing Toledo and beating a potential top-50 Akron team.

The RedHawks are legit. Travis Steele has built an elite spread pick-and-roll attack that can hurt you with downhill drives, drive-and-kickouts, and pick-and-pop sets.

That's a bad matchup for a Central Michigan squad that's struggled in ball-screen coverage (.98 PPP allowed, 13th percentile) while allowing a boatload of unguarded catch-and-shoot 3s (11.4 per game, 15th most nationally).

This is a potentially good matchup for the Chips' offense, given they run a ton of offense through the post and off cuts, and Miami typically doubles the post because of its weak interior defense.

But that might turn into one big math problem that Central Michigan can't solve. Miami can trade 2s for 3s and win this game by 20, which is what I expect the "SpreadHawks" to do.

My Pick: Miami (Ohio) -17 or Better
