FanDuel has announced a new responsible gambling initiative geared toward providing adults with tools and resources to educate young people about gambling and how to potentially approach the subject and the nuance that surrounds it.

The new initiative is designed around a video series entitled Trusted Voices: Conversations About Betting, featuring former NBA player Randy Livingston and his wife, Anita Smith.

“As legal sports betting continues to become more accessible, I knew I wanted to use my experience to help families engage in proactive and informed conversations about gambling,” Livingston said in a press release. “It became apparent to me and Anita that FanDuel shares our goal of helping parents navigate these tough but important conversations.”

The series will emphasize the importance of not allowing those under 21 to access betting accounts, whether in the legal or offshore space.

In addition to the video series, FanDuel is expanding its relationship with Kindbridge Behavioral Health (Kindbridge) to further its program offering individuals who self-exclude from the FanDuel platform direct access to comprehensive mental health assessments and group support services nationwide. The program was piloted in New Jersey and Ohio and is now available to individuals in all jurisdictions where FanDuel offers its sports betting and online casino platforms.

Over the past year, gambling addiction hotlines have seen a significant increase and issues have been highlighted surrounding the paradoxical nature of gambling operators' revenue streams.
