Kelly Clarkson fans were eagerly anticipating the kickoff of her Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

However, just 90 minutes before the curtain was set to rise, Clarkson announced the postponement of her opening weekend performances, scheduled for July 4 and 5, on X and also on her Instagram page.

The sudden postponement was due to vocal strain caused by the intense preparations and rehearsals leading up to the residency. Clarkson also used the social media post to express her disappointment, explaining that the rigorous schedule had taken a toll on her voice.

The former American Idol singer announced in February that she would be starting her shows in Vegas this summer.

But Clarkson explained, "The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice. I want the shows to be perfect for y’all, and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage, so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve."

Fans' Reactions and Clarkson's Gratitude

The social media reaction was mixed but largely marked by disappointment and understanding.

Many fans expressed disappointment and frustration due to the last-minute nature of the cancellation. Some fans were particularly upset because they had traveled long distances and spent significant money on tickets and accommodations. For example, one fan wrote about flying from Boston for her 40th birthday and lamented the financial impact of the late cancellation.

kelly clarkson fans were upset but understood why she had to cancel the first couple of shows of her las vegas residency.

Other fans called the timing "unprofessional" and "wild," noting the cancellation came very close to showtime, which added to their frustration. Some even compared the situation to other artists, saying such late cancellations would be upsetting regardless of the performer's stature.

However, a significant portion of fans showed understanding and support, recognizing the importance of Clarkson protecting her vocal health. Many comments expressed empathy, encouraging her to rest and recover and acknowledging that singing live requires care for her voice. Fans wrote messages like "Your health comes first, Kelly," "When you ACTUALLY sing live, you are allowed this grace. Rest that incredible instrument," and "Get well soon, Kelly."

However, Clarkson expressed her gratitude toward her fans, acknowledging their unwavering support. She shared, "I am beyond grateful that you always show up for me, and I am devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow’s opening at Caesars."
