New Hampshire’s casino market is not built around traditional commercial casinos. Instead, it runs on a charitable gaming model that has grown fast as lawmakers expanded what these venues can offer.
In June, charitable gaming revenue reached $42.4 million, up 31% from June 2025, showing how much momentum the state’s casino-style market has gained. This type of growth was seen almost a year ago.
That growth is being driven mostly by video lottery terminals, or VLTs, which now act as the main engine for revenue.
The June breakdown shows VLTs brought in $21.6 million, while games of chance produced $10.4 million and table games added $10.3 million. Even with table games down sharply year over year, the overall market kept rising because newer machine-based games continued to attract players.
How The New Hampshire Casino Model Works
New Hampshire does not have commercial or tribal casinos. Instead, for-profit operators run gaming floors on behalf of charitable nonprofits, and the money is split among charities, the state, and operators. That setup gives the industry a very different structure from a typical casino market, while still allowing it to look and feel more like a full-scale gaming floor.
The legal framework includes several parts. RSA 287-D covers games of chance such as blackjack, poker, roulette, and craps. RSA 287-J covers VLTs, which were authorized in 2025. RSA 284 governs historical horse racing machines, and RSA 287-E covers bingo and Lucky 7 pull-tabs. Oversight comes from the New Hampshire Lottery & Gaming Commission, which handles licensing, enforcement, and revenue reporting.
Why New Hampshire Casinos Are Experiencing Growth
The biggest reason for the jump is regulatory expansion.
New Hampshire has allowed larger facilities, removed betting limits, and added new machine types that made the gaming floors more casino-like. Those changes have helped venues expand their floor space, increase investment, and improve the overall player experience.
The results are clear in the June numbers. The Nash in Nashua led the state with $13.5 million in revenue, up 60% from a year earlier. The Brook followed with $8.6 million, up 19.3%.
Several Revo Casino locations and Lilac Club Casino also posted strong gains, and only one of the state’s 12 casinos, Aces + Eights, saw a year-over-year decline. Revo Casino is also in the midst of a major expansion effort in The Granite State.
New Hampshire Senate Bill 542 (SB 542), which aimed to limit the game dates available to charities at gaming facilities, is currently dead and failed to advance during the 2026 legislative session.
What The Money Supports
This system is designed to support more than business growth.
A portion of revenue goes to nonprofits, another portion goes to the state, and some funds help support education and responsible gaming programs. That means the growth in casino-style gaming also helps local charities and public services.
