There were heavy snowstorms across the country toward the end of January, but could even more snow be coming to New York City in February?
For anyone interested in New York City weather predictions, Kalshi allows users to place real money on the outcome in most states.
New York City Weather Predictions: February Snow Odds
At the far ends of the snow prediction spectrum, there's almost unanimous agreement that New York City will get above 0.1 inches of snow in February, and that the total will not exceed 25.0 inches.
The odds for getting above 15 or 20 inches are also relatively long, though "above 10 inches" of snow this month is priced at 23 cents, indicating that some believe New York City could see a few big snow days in the near future.
Above three inches of snow is a likelihood, with a pretty good possibility of happening, while six inches is where the odds are nearly even.
What is Kalshi?
Different than a traditional sportsbook and available in most states, Kalshi allows users to make predictions across several unique markets, including sports, entertainment, elections and even weather.
Kalshi operates on a contract-based system where users buy "contracts" (priced between 1–99 cents) based on whether they believe a specific event will happen. The price of each contract fluctuates in real time based on market sentiment, and like the stock market, traders can sell positions early to lock in profits (or minimize losses).
