The Ravens and Texans will face off on Christmas Day for Netflix's first foray into live sports streaming.
It's part of an overall trend that has also resulted in Amazon buying streaming rights to Thursday Night Football. Apple is also in play to gain streaming rights at some point in the future.
Ravens vs. Texans on Netflix on Christmas Day will be the second game on the slate, after Chiefs vs. Steelers, which will take place earlier that Wednesday afternoon.
This matchup will be a great one, health permitting. Defending MVP Lamar Jackson will face off against MVP contender CJ Stroud, who is coming off of a historic rookie season with the Texans. Houston has acquired more help on the offensive end — namely, with the acquisition of wide receiver Stefon Diggs — and look to improve on an already improved squad.
Meanwhile, the Ravens look to avenge a season in which they finished as the No. 5 team overall since 1981, according to DVOA. Despite this historic record, according to the advanced analytics, Baltimore flamed out by only scoring 10 points against the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game to end their season.
The Ravens will open the season versus that same Chiefs team on Thursday, Sept. 5. Odds have opened in that market, where Baltimore is a +2.5 (-102) underdog on the road in Kansas City.
