Minnesota Wild Preview: Playing Down a Man
The Minnesota Wild have gotten off to a strong start, beating the Nashville Predators (3-1) and Boston Bruins (4-1) to start the season. They'll start a three-game road trip against the Buffalo Sabres.
Minnesota continues to play without one of its best players, defenseman Brock Faber, who is out indefinitely with a fractured skull. That's a massive loss on the blueline. Faber's absence hasn't hurt the Wild yet, but I'm betting they'll feel him missing in this road game against the Sabres.
The Wild are 14th in Shot Attempts% and 15th in Expected Goal Differential, so it's not like they've been dominating puck possession and scoring chances during their two-game winning streak.

Buffalo Sabres Preview: Catching Fire at Home
The Buffalo Sabres bounced back from a season-opening loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets, knocking off the Chicago Blackhawks 4-3. This is the second of a five-game home stand, so they'll look to make it two wins in a row.
The Sabres have looked better than their record so far, coming in at 2nd in Shot Attempts% and 10th in Expected Goal Differential. Once their goaltending improves, they'll start racking up wins.
I like that we're getting Buffalo at such a cheap price at home here.

Wild vs. Sabres Preview
I'm rolling with Sabres ML against the Wild without Brock Faber. Buffalo has the second-best Shot Attempts% in the NHL, so getting them at -108 in a home game is appealing here.
Best Bet: Sabres ML
