Bruins vs Stars Pick

The best goaltending battle of the evening takes place in Dallas as the Boston Bruins' Jeremy Swayman is expected to face the Stars' Jake Oettinger. Swayman has lost just once across his first seven starts of the campaign, posting a dominant .934 save percentage and 1.85 goals-against average in the process.

Somehow, Oettinger has been even better. Across his first six starts, he owns a .952 save percentage and a 1.00 goals-against average.

He secured a shutout in half of those starts, which is a pretty remarkable feat considering that no other goaltender has recorded multiple shutouts this season. That said, Swayman has been close.

He shut out the New York Rangers earlier this season and has allowed just one goal in three of his past four starts.

Given the recent form of each goaltender, scoring is likely to be difficult to come by.

Pick: Under 5.5 (-102 at DraftKings | Play to -110)

Jets vs Blues Pick

There could be another good goaltending battle during the 8 p.m. (EDT) window as the St. Louis Blues host the Winnipeg Jets. Stuart Skinner is expected to face Joel Hofer, and both netminders have an identical .906 save percentage and a goals-against average below 3.00.

Despite the best efforts of Kyle Connor, Winnipeg's offense has struggled this season. The Jets enter this matchup ranked 21st in goals scored per game and 22nd in expected goals for per 60 minutes (xGF/60).

It's also a good time to sell high on the Blues' offense. Despite their 13% shooting percentage, St. Louis ranks in the bottom half of the league in both shots on goal per game and xGF/60.

It's unlikely that the Blues will continue to convert their chances at such a high rate given their low shot volume and poor shot quality.

Pick: Under 5.5 (+104 at FanDuel)

Wild vs Oilers Pick

Later in the evening, the Edmonton Oilers host the Minnesota Wild. There is no denying that Minnesota's Jesper Wallstedt has been one of the stronger goaltenders in the league this season, but it's a difficult task to quell this powerhouse Edmonton offense.

Entering this matchup, the Oilers rank first in goals scored per game at a whopping 4.63. By comparison, the Wild sit at 3.11.

There is a significant gap between these two offenses, a differential that outweighs Minnesota's goaltending edge. The Oilers are expected to counter Wallstedt with Devon Levi, who is 4-1 with a .905 save percentage and a 2.83 goals-against average through his first five starts this year.

Add in home ice, and the Oilers are worth backing to secure their seventh win in their first nine games.

Pick: Oilers Moneyline (54 Cents at Kalshi | Play to 60 Cents)
