While Bolsonaro is approaching the 50% plus one threshold needed for an outright victory in the first round, a concrete possibility of an October 25 runoff remains as counting continues.
On prediction platforms like Polymarket, trading volume around the contest has exploded—surpassing $155 million in volume—as contract prices undergo massive real-time shifts in response to early tallies.
Polls vs Odds: Prediction Markets Flip as Counts Roll In
In Polymarket’s first-round winner market, odds inverted dramatically compared to pre-election polling. Early count results triggered a complete shift: contracts for Flávio Bolsonaro surged by 57 cents, making him the strong favorite at 99 cents (99% probability). Conversely, Lula's odds plummeted to 1 cent.
