Real Madrid Prediction

Real Madrid is set to close one of the most successful chapters in its rich history, with Carlo Ancelotti stepping down at the end of this season. Xabi Alonso has already bid farewell to Bayer Leverkusen, and all indications point to him as the chosen successor.

After being knocked out in the Champions League quarterfinals by Arsenal and losing two consecutive finals to Barcelona (the Spanish Super Cup and Copa del Rey), Ancelotti’s last chance to leave on a high note is by winning LaLiga. It won't be easy — his team is second, four points behind their opponent this matchday.

Los Blancos need a win to cut the gap to just one point, with three more matches left on the schedule. Their remaining fixtures include home games against Mallorca and Real Sociedad, as well as a tricky away match against Sevilla.

Key players like Antonio Rüdiger, Eder Militao, Eduardo Camavinga, and Ferland Mendy are all sidelined with injuries. The situation with Rodrygo is also uncertain — the Brazilian has scored just once in his last 21 matches and missed the last game amid rumors of a potential summer exit.

Barcelona Prediction

Barcelona's elimination at the hands of Inter in the Champions League semifinal remains a fresh wound. The Catalan side came within two minutes of a remarkable comeback, but a last-gasp goal from Francesco Acerbi and an extra-time strike from Davide Frattesi sealed their fate.

Coach Hansi Flick now faces the challenge of quickly refocusing his players for El Clásico. A win or even a draw would put them on the brink of clinching LaLiga, while a loss could put that title at risk as well.

If Barcelona manages a favorable result against Real Madrid, they could even wrap up the title in the next matchday when they visit Espanyol in the Catalan derby. Alex Baldé has been seen in training and could be cleared to play, as could Marc Casadó.

Star striker Robert Lewandowski, however, is still not fit enough to play the full 90 minutes and is expected to come on as a second-half substitute. Meanwhile, right-back Jules Koundé remains a significant absence for a team that failed to qualify for the next Club World Cup and will watch the tournament unfold in the United States from home.

Real Madrid vs. Barcelona Pick

The hosts come in as the clear favorites for one main reason: they have won the last three El Clásico encounters across all competitions, including the Spanish Super Cup and Copa del Rey finals. However, the physical and psychological toll of their Champions League semifinal loss to Inter raises questions about their current form.

This derby is far from just another match. At stake are the LaLiga title and the race for the Pichichi, the league’s top scorer award. Robert Lewandowski currently leads with 25 goals, one ahead of Kylian Mbappé, who risks ending his debut season in the Spanish capital without a trophy.

According to the Catalan press, the Polish striker is unlikely to start, while Mbappé, who has scored in each of the last two meetings against Barcelona, is expected to lead the line for Madrid.

The last seven head-to-heads in Catalonia have each featured at least three goals, and there’s little reason to expect this trend to stop. Real Madrid’s urgency to win is immense, as is Mbappé’s drive to secure the Pichichi.

Real Madrid vs. Barcelona Pick: Kylian Mbappé Anytime Goalscorer (+130)
