Polymarket’s return to the U.S. came with more rules than its global crypto-native product. The U.S. version runs through a regulated exchange setup, which means users need to verify their identity before they can trade.
Polymarket has to confirm basic account details, check eligibility, and manage access state by state. A waitlist originally gave the platform more control while it rolls out the U.S. app and handled verification demand.
There was also a market-quality reason. Prediction markets work better when there are enough buyers and sellers on both sides, so gradually bringing users in helped keep markets more stable as the app scaled.
However, recently, Polymarket reached a point where the waitlist was no longer needed.
Remember: Polymarket's 2026 U.S. prediction market app is a fundamentally different product than the global version.
How to Sign Up For Polymarket
