Fantasy Streamers: Washington Defense, Derek Carr, More Week 9 Picks

Streaming quarterback, kicker and defense has been a strategy I’ve used successfully for years.
I’ve parlayed that success into a series of weekly recommendations of the top streaming options at those three positions as well as tight end — a position I don’t recommend streaming week-to-week, though still offer recommendations for fantasy players who may need a short-term rental.
Here are this season’s results through Week 8:
- Defense: DEF1
- Quarterback: QB9
- Kicker: K4
- Tight end: TE16
Now without further ado, let’s go streaming!
Week 9 Defense Streamer
Washington vs. Giants
- Rank: DEF2 [Go To My Full Rankings]
- Available in: 85% of leagues
Daniel Jones is a human turnover machine.
Washington opens the week as my No. 2 defense and is my top streaming target.
Week 9 QB Streamer
Raiders QB Derek Carr @ Chargers
- Rank: QB13 [Go To My Full Rankings]
- Available in: 56% of leagues
It’s a rough week for streaming QBs. No one inside of my top 14 is available in over 50% of leagues. Potential streaming options such as Jimmy Garoppolo, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Gardner Minshew are out this week.
That leaves us with Derek Carr, who is my QB15. Carr only threw for 112 yards and one touchdown last week, but it was mostly due to Cleveland’s windy conditions. He should bounce back this week and carries a high floor. I think Carr also has a higher ceiling than we are used to. First-round rookie Henry Ruggs should be close to 100% now and provides a deep threat he has been lacking.
Carr has also flashed some rushing ability this season, running for 19+ yards in three games. He’s a decent streaming option in a week without many options.
Week 9 Kicker Streamer
Vikings K Dan Bailey vs. Lions
- Rank: K8 [Go To My Full Rankings]
- Available in: 79% of leagues
The Vikings have one of the higher team totals in Week 9 and should be able to create plenty of scoring chances for Bailey.
Considering we are entering the second half of the season, the weather will become more of an issue, so it’s nice to have a kicker who is playing in a dome.
Week 9 TE Streamer
Steelers TE Eric Ebron @ Cowboys
- Rank: TE10 [Go To My Full Rankings]
- Available in: 55% of leagues
I’m going back to the Eric Ebron well this week.
The Steelers passing game, as a whole, has a lower ceiling this week. It’s unlikely the Cowboys score enough points to force Big Ben to keep his foot on the gas for all four quarters.
I consider Eric Ebron more of a TD-dependent streamer option this week. However, since the Steelers have the second-highest team total this week, his TD odds are elevated. I will update my streamers on Saturday if I end up upgrading at the TE position.
