Indianapolis went the other way. Baltimore dropped 41 points and 506 yards on the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. Lamar Jackson averaged 13 yards per attempt, Derrick Henry churned out 144 yards at 6 per carry, and Zay Flowers posted 150 receiving yards. Daniel Jones, back from an Achilles injury, went 19-of-31 at 4.5 yards per attempt.
Three things still push us to the points.
Start with Jonathan Taylor, who carried 19 times for 98 yards and two touchdowns against one of the league's better fronts. Indianapolis wins at a much higher rate whenever it clears 100 rushing yards, and running the ball shortens the game and protects the number.
Next, these teams already played a one-score game. Kansas City needed overtime to escape Indianapolis 23-20 last November, and Jones threw two touchdowns that day despite a modest 181-yard night against Steve Spagnuolo's pressure looks.
Finally, the forecast at Arrowhead calls for rain. Wet conditions trim possessions and cut into explosive passing, and a total of 47.5 leaves little room for a three-score margin.
Kansas City probably wins this game. Covering by seven in a damp primetime spot against a team that runs the ball this well demands much more.
