Also, while PointsBet in New Jersey and Indiana doesn't offer odds on horse racing, they're still offering a promo for today's race: If Tiz the Law wins, you get $150 in free bets!

If you are new to horse racing and are unsure of the best way to take advantage of these promos, our horse racing expert Jeremy Pond has a pair of horses for you to consider.

Best Bet to Win

No. 17 Tiz the Law (3-5)

If you are looking to just bet the horse that is most likely to win, this is your pony.

It is virtually impossible to poke holes in the Barclay Tagg-trained bay colt’s current form, and I’m not even going to try to find a flaw.

Tiz The Law crushed the opposition in the Grade 1 Florida Derby before cruising to the easy victory in the Grade 1 Belmont Stakes in the rearranged Triple Crown series.

Most recently, jockey Manny Franco made his typical, perfectly-timed move aboard his charge as they hit the far turn and destroyed the field under wraps in the Grade 1 Travers Stakes at Saratoga Race Course to secure his status as the best 3-year-old in the world.

The bay colt by Constitution delivered a blistering 115 Brisnet Speed figure in that Travers victory at 1 1/4 miles, which is the same length as the Kentucky Derby, so getting the distance won’t be an issue.

If Tiz The Law stays out of trouble and runs his race, he will win the Derby by open lengths.

Best Longshot

Ny Traffic (20-1)

The Saffie Joseph, Jr.-trained charge just missed clipping Authentic in the Grade I Haskell Invitational, which has me questioning why he’s going off at more than double the number of Authentic in this race.

Just as impressive were the numbers Ny Traffic posted in the Haskell, highlighted by his career-best 109 Equibase Speed Figure and 120 TimeForm US speed rating.

Ny Traffic might not have Authentic’s Hall of Fame connections in trainer Bob Baffert and jockey John Velazquez, but he was the better horse that day despite the second-place finish, and I see him with a legitimate chance of jumping into the exacta or possibly springing what would be a historic upset.
