Hawks vs. Thunder Spread Prediction

Hawks -3.5 (-110)

This is a textbook situational spot where you back the team with functional basketball cohesion over a squad that is in a state of shock. In their Salt Lake City opener, the Thunder were completely dismantled by the Grizzlies, suffering a 37-point blowout loss (74-111).

Oklahoma City turned the ball over 15 times, shot a miserable 20.0% from beyond the arc, and finished with a team point differential of -37.0. Top draft pick Aday Mara logged a team-worst -27 in 22 minutes on the floor, while Brooks Barnhizer finished at a staggering -28.

There is zero baseline chemistry to be found in this lineup right now.

Conversely, while the Hawks dropped their opener by a single point to the Jazz, their offensive process looked much cleaner.

Atlanta generated 102 points and took better care of the ball, logging only 14 turnovers. They possess an elite playmaker in Kingston Flemings, who recorded a spectacular 14 points and 9 assists in his debut.

With Flemings running point-of-attack distribution alongside active frontcourt targets like Asa Newell (15 points) and Zuby Ejiofor (11 rebounds), Atlanta has a distinct table-setting advantage.

Trust the team that knows how to execute an offense. Lay the -3.5 with the Hawks.

Pick: Hawks -3.5 (-110)

Lakers vs. Spurs Moneyline Pick

San Antonio Spurs Logo
Lakers Moneyline (+120)

The baseline market has installed the Spurs as slight 2.5-point favorites here, but a deep dive into the California Classic tracking data reveals that San Antonio’s offense is completely stuck in the mud.

The Spurs are sitting at a winless 0-2 record while averaging a tournament-worst 78.0 points per game. While they are converting a respectable 36.7% of their looks from deep, their operational flow has been undone by sloppy execution, as they are throwing away possessions at a rate of 16.0 turnovers per game.

The Lakers have their own efficiency struggles, tracking a matching -15.0 point differential on a frosty 37.6% field goal clip.

However, the crucial differentiator in a sloppy Summer League environment is having a high-level shot creator who can bail out empty possessions. The Lakers have exactly that in Cameron Carr.

Carr has been a force on the wing, logging heavy floor time (28.3 minutes per game) while firing off a spectacular 22.5 points per game on highly efficient 45.2% shooting from the floor and 45.0% from three.

San Antonio simply does not possess a perimeter weapon capable of matching Carr’s scoring explosions. Sprinkle on the Lakers +120 moneyline value in this spot.

Pick: Lakers Moneyline (+120)

Grizzlies vs. Jazz Total Bet

Utah Jazz Logo
Over 185.5 (-110)

If you love high-octane offensive basketball, grab your popcorn because over 185.5 total points in Grizzlies vs. Jazz is our favorite play on Monday's slate. These two rosters lit up the scoreboard in their opening Salt Lake City appearances.

The Grizzlies put on an absolute clinical display against the Thunder, dropping 111 points while shooting a blistering 57.1% from the field and 53.1% from deep.

Memphis has overwhelming luxury depth, led by Olivier-Maxence Prosper (17 points, +38), rookie standout Cameron Boozer (15 points on 63.6% shooting), and point guard Javon Small, who engineered the offense to a tune of 11 points, 9 assists, and a game-high +37 net rating.

The Jazz are playing at an equally frantic tempo, securing a 103-point showcase against the Hawks behind an efficient 55.6% shooting display.

Darryn Peterson went off in his Utah debut, printing 28 points on 52.4% shooting and a hyper-efficient 57.1% clip from three-point land, backed by Cody Williams' 17 points.

Crucially for the game total, Utah’s fast-paced offense is highly careless with the rock, coughing up a ridiculous 26 turnovers in Game 1. Those empty live-ball giveaways will feed directly into a deadly Memphis transition game that already racked up 33 team assists.

Both teams should sail past the century mark again in this game. Hammer the over.

Pick: Over 185.5 (-110)
