Lakers vs. Magic
By Joe Dellera
The Magic face off against the red-hot Lakers tonight, and one player that I'll be targeting is Paolo Banchero.
Paolo has played solid basketball since the All-Star break, averaging 25.1 points per game during that span — which has led to him clearing this line in 10-of-16 games.
Additionally, the Magic have been without Franz Wagner and Anthony Black for nine of those games, and Banchero is averaging 26 points per game in those contests.
This matchup against the Lakers is one where Paolo typically sees his fair share of opportunities. Banchero scored 36 points in his one matchup against Lakers this season — he took 22 field goal attempts and 11 free throws.
JJ Redick knows that this Paolo is not the most efficient of the Magic players, and we have seen the Lakers allow other high-volume, moderate-efficiency players get looks funneled towards them.
I’m backing Paolo to see plenty of volume in this spot.
Pick: Paolo Banchero Over 23.5 Points (-120)
Heat vs. Rockets
Action PRO is projecting 19.7 points for Amen Thompson in the Rockets' matchup against the Heat tonight, showing a huge 15.1% edge against his current prop line of over/under 17.5, which is strong enough to tag the Over with an A- grade in our database.
Thompson scored only 14 points in 34 minutes of action in the Rockets 22-point win over the Hawks yesterday.
However, prior to his latest outing, Thompson had scored 18+ points in nine of his last 10 games, while breaking 20+ points in seven of those contests; and getting all the way up to 22+ points in six of them.
We will go ahead and lock in our best bet for this game at Over 17.5 Points. However, we also see value in backing Thompson to score 20+ Points (+135) in a matchup against a Heat team that ranks 1st in pace and 22nd in points allowed per game.
Pick: Amen Thompson Over 17.5 Points (-112)
Bucks vs. Suns
We had a tough loss on Ryan Rollins to go over 5.5 assists last game.
The line closed at 7.5 after Kevin Porter Jr. was ruled out — and Rollins landed on five assists exactly, as he barely played in the 4th quarter as the Jazz (!!) blew out the Bucks.
We are going to target his points prop this time.
Rollins gets a 3.4% usage rate boost with Giannis Antetokounmpo off the floor.
Phoenix has been a middling defense since Dillon Brooks went down.
Action PRO is projecting 18.0 points for Rollins in tonight's game.
