Georgia vs Oklahoma Pick, Betting Analysis

We’re getting a pretty stiff breeze out to left field at Charles Schwab Field today, with gusts up to 25 miles per hour.

That helps a Georgia lineup packed with power — its 175 home runs this year leads the nation — and certainly doesn’t hurt the tournament’s hottest offense in Oklahoma.

Freshman Xander Mercurius (0-2, 6.18 ERA) starts for Oklahoma this afternoon in a game it can technically afford to lose, while Georgia throws exuberant righty Caden Aoki (9-1, 4.04).

It hasn’t mattered which arm is on the opposing side — the Sooners have managed to give the scoreboard a workout throughout the entire NCAA Tournament, scoring eight or more runs in every game except their second against Georgia Tech.

Mercurius pitched well in his last outing, holding Kansas to just one run through four innings. But before that, he allowed nine earned runs against Tennessee and Arkansas in the SEC Tournament.

Georgia packs a significant punch, and I expect the Dawgs to be aggressive early against the freshman.

I believe Georgia advances to the semifinals in this game. I’d also consider laying -230, as this projects as an 80% expected win rate for the Dawgs (-400 fair value).

Pick: Over 11.5 (-125)
