Oklahoma vs UNC College World Series Preview

Well, it all comes down to this: a winner-take-all matchup for the National Championship. Regardless of your position, we wouldn't want it any other way.

The story of this series has been timely offensive outbursts followed by great relief pitching.

That sequence defined Oklahoma's Game 1 victory, and then North Carolina followed suit in Game 2. The Tar Heels' four-run third inning put them ahead for good before Caden Glauber delivered five innings of shutout ball while allowing just one hit.

The Tar Heels are now an incredible 29-0 when Glauber pitches. His taking the mound is clearly a part of the winning recipe for UNC, but after 65 pitches yesterday, will he be able to make an impact? I wouldn't be surprised to see him give an inning at minimum, given the circumstances of this matchup.

However, that will likely be after we see some combination of Folger Boaz and Jackson Rose. Both have been trusted back-of-the-rotation options, and their ability to give length in this matchup is crucial.

On the other side of this matchup, the Sooners' third freshman phenom, Nick Wesloski, will get the ball.

In an ideal world, Oklahoma would like some length out of Wesloski, but it will have the opportunity to turn to LJ Mercurius for length out of the bullpen after he threw one scoreless inning in Game 1.

Oklahoma vs UNC Pick, Betting Analysis

The all-hands-on-deck theme of this matchup creates a ton of variables. Who will be used? How effective can they be at this point in the season with heavy recent usage?

For me, this matchup is about momentum, and the Tar Heels regained it behind Glauber's massive performance Sunday.

The Tar Heels' staff is better equipped entering this game and should have an answer to turn to if the Sooners rally. That's not OU's style, though, and its power surge is bound to run out.

Back the Tar Heels to take the final game of the 2026 season and be crowned national champions.

Pick: North Carolina ML -150 (theScore Bet)
