Baylor Bears Betting Preview: Explosive Offense Leads the Way

We're one month into the season, and Baylor fans have already been through a good deal of stress. Two of its first three games against FBS opponents have been decided by three points. Even the loss to Auburn was a one-possession game in the fourth quarter before the Tigers added a late touchdown.

This week, Baylor figures to have some breathing room; it's listed as a three-touchdown favorite as it heads to Stillwater.

Quarterback Sawyer Robertson is leading the attack once again after a 3,000-yard season. He's off to a sensational start, averaging 305 passing yards per game with 13 touchdowns against three interceptions.

He's spread the ball effectively, as five Bears have 15 receptions and at least 150 receiving yards.

Josh Cameron leads the way with 21 receptions for 309 yards and three touchdowns. He went for 151 yards against SMU and was joined by running back Bryson Washington, who went for 115 yards on the ground.

Washington has three consecutive 100-yard games and is on pace for his second straight season with over 1,000 rushing yards.

Baylor ranks 20th in Passing Success Rate and Explosiveness. It should find success against an Oklahoma State defense that allows over 31 points and 420 yards per game.

Oklahoma State Cowboys Betting Preview: How Will Coaching Change Affect the Program?

It was just two seasons that Oklahoma State was playing in the Big 12 Championship game, its second appearance in two years.

However, since the start of last season, the Cowboys are just 4-11 and have lost each of their last 11 games against FBS opponents. As a result, the school parted ways with head coach Mike Gundy after 20 seasons.

Gundy leaves as the program's winningest coach in school history with 170 wins, 108 more than any other coach in school history.

However, in a wide open Big 12, his team was showing very little signs of being able to compete this season. In two games against FBS opponents this season. Oklahoma State has been outscored 88-15 and out-gained by over 400 yards.

The final straw was losing outright as a double-digit favorite to in-state Tulsa last week.

Offensive coordinator Doug Meacham will take over as interim coach, and he'll look to get his unit going as well.

Freshman quarterback Zane Flores had 56 yards on the ground and a touchdown last week against Tulsa. However, he's still looking for his first career touchdown pass and is completing just 57% of his passes.

Oklahoma State may look to get the ball in the hands of freshman Rodney Fields Jr. more, as he's coming off the first 100-yard game of his career. The freshman is averaging 5.3 yards per carry, and Oklahoma State is averaging just 3.4 yards per carry when Fields doesn't get the touch.

It ranks 125th in Success Rate and 116th in Rushing Success Rate.

Baylor vs Oklahoma State Pick, Betting Analysis

I'm not sure that I trust Baylor's defense to cover 21-point spread against a team that may have more juice following the coaching change.

However, I do expect it to have a lot of success moving the ball against Oklahoma State. In its last six games against Power Four opponents, Oklahoma State has allowed 40 points in four of those games while giving up an average of 49.1 points per game.

Baylor was one of the teams that didn't get 40, but it nearly missed in a 38-28 victory.

The Bears have already scored 40 points twice this season, including 48 at SMU. With its ability to create explosive plays and sustain drives, I like Baylor to put up 40 points once again.

Pick: Baylor Team Total Over 39.5 Points
