Chip Kelly is leaving UCLA after six seasons to join Ohio State as the next Buckeyes offensive coordinator, according to multiple reports.

“I want to sincerely thank Chip for his service to UCLA Football and our student-athletes across the past six seasons," UCLA Atheltic Director Martin Jarmond said in a letter regarding Kelly's departure.

"A national search for the next head coach of UCLA football has already begun. As we continue preparation for our move to the Big Ten Conference later this year, it is imperative we have the right leader in place to position the program to compete at the highest level for our student-athletes, fans and university."

Kelly went 35-34 in in his time at UCLA, including back-to-back seasons playing a bowl game. This season the Bruins beat Boise State 35-22 in the LA Bowl. Bill O'Brien, who was expected to take the offensive coordinator job at Ohio State, accepted the head coaching position at Boston College earlier Friday morning, which prompted the Buckeyes to go after Kelly.

Kelly and Day have extensive history coaching together. Day was a coach on Kelly's coaching staff with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015 and with the San Francisco 49ers in 2016. They also added one the best running backs in the SEC, Quinshon Judkins, to their roster via the transfer portal in January to pair with TreVeyon Henderson. With Kelly's offensive mind, the Buckeyes could have one of the most explosive offenses in the country.

The expectations in Columbus are quite high heading into the spring. The Buckeyes have the second-shortest odds to win the national championship in 2025 at +500 odds. Their win total is set at 10.5 with the juice on the over at -150.
