South Carolina State vs Prairie View A&M Celebration Bowl Preview
South Carolina State Bulldogs Betting Preview: Electric All Around
Don’t sleep on the South Carolina State Bulldogs, who won the MEAC and made plays in key situations against their two toughest FCS opponents at the end of the year in NC Central and Delaware State.
The Bulldogs want to throw the football. William Atkins IV is a special talent at quarterback who has thrown for 2,323 yards with 17 touchdowns.
South Carolina State has electric receivers in Jordan Smith and Jalen Johnson, who can score from anywhere on the field. While the ground attack isn't as efficient as that of other HBCUs, Tyler Smith has some wiggle and can make defenders miss.
The SC State defense has been elite at the HBCU level in terms of creating pressure and causing Havoc in the backfield of its opponents.
The Bulldogs have registered 31 sacks and 110 tackles for loss this season. This front is going to have to show up this week against a stout Prairie View A&M offensive line.
SCSU defensive end Michael Lunz II is a sack dude, and PVAMU must keep an eye on him at all times. The SC State secondary has forced 14 interceptions and should have its finger on the pulse of the Panthers' pass game.
Can the Bulldogs generate enough resistance against the Panthers' run game? That's the major question of whether SC State can win this game.
Prairie View A&M Panthers Betting Preview: A Couple of Advantages
The turnaround head coach Tremaine Jackson and defensive coordinator Brandon Anderson have executed this year is beyond stunning.
This once-consistent FCS bottom-feeder has been one of the more dominant defenses in FCS football in 2025 while allowing just 267 yards and 16.5 points per game.
The Panthers don't allow explosives over the top and have done well in limiting their opponents’ efficiency; seven of the last nine opponents have scored 13 points or less.
Prairie View has been absolutely dominant in terms of taking away what the opposition wants to do. The Panthers thrive at forcing negative plays and mistakes. I expect this defense to show up ready to go here.
The offense is led by quarterback Cameron Peters, who has thrown for nearly 2,400 yards with 17 passing touchdowns this season. The ground game has been really efficient with Chase Bingmon and Peters leading the way. Both average over five yards per carry.
Offensively, Prairie View wants to establish the run. The Panthers are going to run the ball, and it'll be interesting to see how SC State plans to stop this methodical rushing attack and get Prairie View into unfavorable downs and distances.

South Carolina State vs Prairie View A&M Pick, Betting Analysis
South Carolina State won the MEAC and opened as a -1.5 point favorite in this contest, with a total set at 52.5. Now, Prairie View A&M has shifted to a -1.5 favorite, and the total ticked up to 53.5.
This is going to be a fun bout and a really good football game. I'm backing Prairie View A&M on the moneyline.
This Prairie View defense is legitimately talented, and this front seven is going to cause problems for South Carolina State.
The Bulldogs aren't going to be able to run the football very effectively in this matchup, so the Bulldogs will be forced to throw their way out of unfavorable downs and distances.
South Carolina State hasn't been a strong pass-protection team this season and has allowed 33 sacks and 70 tackles for loss.
Kennedy Parker leads the Panthers in sacks and TFLs and should leave his mark on this game. Watch for Atkins to have the timing thrown off in the pass game, which relies on explosives without a strong run game.
Prairie View A&M has been elite on third down this year defensively, allowing just 28% of third downs to be converted. The Panthers are a sound tackling defense that doesn't see a lot of broken tackles or yards after first contact.
I expect this defense to make life difficult for SC State here.
The PVAMU offense is going to run the football. It has three capable ball-carriers in Bingmon and Peters. We should see the Panthers operate at a slower pace, and while explosive plays might be limited, this offense is very efficient.
This offensive line doesn't allow Havoc and pass protects very well. I wouldn't expect negative plays for the Panthers offensively and would expect them to execute in the red zone.
Prairie View A&M has numerous impressive wins this season, and its defense has controlled the terms.
I expect the Panthers defense to show up and show out here while leading this much-improved squad to a Celebration Bowl victory.
Pick: Prairie View A&M ML -125
