Maryland casinos generated $151.4 million from slot machines and table games in September 2026, nearly matching their revenue from the same month last year. The statewide total declined just 0.1%, a much smaller drop than The Old Line State recorded in August.

According to the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency figures supplied for this report, the six casinos collected $151,414,275 in September. That was $121,333 less than in September 2025.

Despite the slight decline, casino contributions to state programs increased. September contributions reached $65,033,471, up 1.8% from a year earlier, with most of that money directed to the Education Trust Fund.

On a side note, Maryland lawmakers are no closer to  getting a sweepstakes casino bill moved forward. There has also been no progress on introducing a legal online casino bill.

How Each Casino in Maryland Performed

September produced mixed results across the state’s six casinos. Three properties reported revenue gains, while three finished below their September 2025 totals.

MGM National Harbor remained the largest revenue producer. Live! Casino & Hotel held second place, although its revenue slipped from a year earlier.

The gaming revenue totals for September 2026 were as follows:

  • MGM National Harbor (2,208 slot machines, 214 table games)
    $63,889,344 in September 2026, an increase of $699,533 (1.1%) from September 2025
  • Live! Casino & Hotel (3,500 slot machines, 181 table games)
    $54,151,966 in September 2026, a decrease of $767,617 (-1.4%) from September 2025
  • Horseshoe Casino (1,382 slot machines, 104 table games)
    $13,057,478 in September 2026, a decrease of $947,510 (-6.8%) from September 2025
  • Ocean Downs Casino (900 slot machines, 17 table games)
    $8,926,984 in September 2026, an increase of $505,666 (6.0%) from September 2025
  • Hollywood Casino (714 slot machines, 18 table games)
    $6,749,943 in September 2026, an increase of $398,806 (6.3%) from September 2025
  • Rocky Gap Casino (630 slot machines, 12 table games)
    $4,638,560 in September 2026, a decrease of $10,212 (-0.2%) from September 2025

MGM National Harbor increased its revenue by $699,533. That gain helped offset declines at Live! Casino & Hotel and Horseshoe Casino Baltimore, which reported decreases of $767,617 and $947,510, respectively.

Together, MGM and Live! generated about $118 million, accounting for roughly 78% of statewide casino revenue. Their results continue to carry considerable weight in Maryland’s monthly totals.

Smaller Maryland Casinos Record Stronger Growth

Hollywood Casino Perryville posted the largest percentage increase in September. Its revenue rose 6.3% to nearly $6.75 million, an increase of $398,806.

Ocean Downs Casino followed closely with 6.0% growth. The property generated nearly $8.93 million, up $505,666 from September 2025.

Those increases helped balance weaker results elsewhere. Horseshoe Casino Baltimore recorded the largest percentage decline at 6.8%, while Rocky Gap Casino Resort’s revenue fell just 0.2%.

The results show why statewide totals do not tell the full story. Maryland casinos finished September nearly even with last year, but individual properties experienced noticeably different outcomes.

Maryland's Education Trust Fund Receives $47.6 Million

Casino contributions supported several public programs in September. The Education Trust Fund received $47,639,745, making it the largest recipient.

The supplied agency figures also show approximately:

  • $8.1 million for local communities and jurisdictions where casinos operate.
  • $7.6 million for Maryland’s horse racing industry.
  • $1.6 million for small, minority- and women-owned businesses.

These amounts are rounded, except for the Education Trust Fund allocation.

Casino revenue and state contributions measure different things. Revenue reflects money generated from gaming, while contributions reflect the portion allocated to public programs. September’s figures show that the two totals do not always move in the same direction: gaming revenue edged down, but contributions increased.

September Follows a Weaker August

September’s nearly flat result followed a more substantial decline in August. Maryland casinos generated about $160 million that month, down 6.0% from August 2025.

August also marked the fourth consecutive month of year-over-year declines. Revenue had fallen 3.7% in May, 2.4% in June and 4.7% in July before the larger August decrease.

September’s smaller decline suggests that the year-over-year revenue gap narrowed. However, one month of results is not enough to establish a sustained recovery.
