Jets vs Blackhawks Pick

After a tough start to the season, the Chicago Blackhawks found what they needed with the return of Connor Bedard in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. The entire team's play improved with the return of its captain, who provided a particular spark on the first line alongside Patrick Kane and Roman Kantserov.

That line produced two huge goals in the middle of the game, and the combination figures to improve as time goes on. After all, it was the first time both Kane and Kantserov had played alongside Bedard.

The rest of the team filled in the gaps and showed it can compete against better teams on home ice, and that momentum could carry into Thursday. While the Winnipeg Jets are off to a great start this year, it remains to be seen whether goaltender Stuart Skinner can keep up his production.

His track record suggests that he is due for regression, given that Skinner has failed to post a save percentage of .900 or better in any of the past three seasons. With a reinvigorated Hawks group on home ice, Chicago could be in the perfect position to capitalize on Skinner's potential regression.

Pick: Blackhawks Moneyline (46 Cents at Polymarket)

Mammoth vs Oilers Pick

Both teams have looked excellent thus far, with the Utah Mammoth entering at 5-2 and the Edmonton Oilers at 5-0-1. Both teams score at will, with each side ranking in the top five in the league in goals per game.

If Utah can keep pace offensively, then this game could come down to goaltending, which is its biggest advantage in this matchup. Karel Vejmelka enters this contest with two straight wins under his belt, posting a .900 save percentage and a 2.50 goals-against average over that stretch.

Meanwhile, the Oilers are expected to start goaltender Tristan Jarry at the other end of the ice. He's made only two starts this year, posting a .837 save percentage and a 3.47 goals-against average over that stretch.

Pick: Mammoth Moneyline (+110 at DraftKings)

Flames vs Golden Knights Pick

Thursday's NHL slate closes out with arguably the most lopsided matchup on the card. Nothing has gone right for the Calgary Flames this year, as they enter this contest with a 1-5 record.

Calgary is struggling all over the ice, ranking second-to-last in goals scored per game and last in goals allowed per game. Unsurprisingly, last year's Stanley Cup runners-up easily outpace Calgary in each category.

The Vegas Golden Knights rank seventh in goals scored per game and sixth in goals allowed per game. Not only is Vegas the better team both offensively and defensively, but it is also better in net.

The goaltending matchup is expected to feature Dustin Wolf against Carter Hart. This season, Hart outranks Wolf in wins, goals-against average and save percentage.

It's also worth noting that all five of the Flames' losses this year have come by at least two goals.

Pick: Golden Knights -1.5 (-125 at bet365)
