Jets vs. Blackhawks Preview
After a tough start to the season, the Blackhawks found what they needed with the return of Connor Bedard in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. The entire team's play improved with the return of its captain, who provided a particular spark on the first line alongside Patrick Kane and Roman Kantserov.
That line produced two huge goals in the middle of the game, and the combination figures to improve as time goes on. After all, it was the first time both Kane and Kantserov had played alongside Bedard.
The rest of the team filled in the gaps and showed it can compete against better teams on home ice, and that momentum could carry into Thursday. While the Jets are off to a great start this year, it remains to be seen whether goaltender Stuart Skinner can keep up his production.
His track record suggests that he is due for regression, given that Skinner has failed to post a save percentage of .900 or better in any of the past three seasons. With a reinvigorated Hawks group on home ice, Chicago could be in the perfect position to capitalize on Skinner's potential regression.
