Mark Cuban is selling a majority stake in the Dallas Mavericks, as you've probably heard. And if you've been on the internet at all this week, you've probably also seen rumors that Cuban's sale is setting up a potential 2024 presidential election run.

On Wednesday, Cuban addressed those rumors, telling CNBC he has "no plans" to run for president in the 2024 United States presidential election.

Yet the odds say otherwise.

Mark Cuban Odds to Win 2024 Presidential Election

As of Thursday afternoon, following his sale of a majority stake in the Mavericks and his announced departure from "Shark Tank", Mark Cuban's odds to win the 2024 Presidential Election are 130-1, according to European betting exchange Betfair.

At 130-1, Mark Cuban's odds of winning the 2024 Presidential Election equate to approximately a .73% chance of winning the presidency.

In fact, Cuban's 130-1 odds to win the 2024 Presidential Election are slightly better than the odds of actual, current politicians such as Elizabeth Warren, Greg Abbott and Joe Manchin, all 140-1.

Cuban's comments this week about his having "no plans" to run for United States president echo his previous statements that he won't enter the race — but that was before the reported sale of such a large stake in the Mavericks and his announcement about leaving "Shark Tank."

Of course, betting markets, particularly around elections, are noisy and volatile beyond the top handful of prospective candidates. Cuban's odds to win the presidency being shorter than other politicians is by no means a firm indication that he is going to run. Still, there's a difference between having "no plans" to run for election and not running. And the betting market is hedging on the chance of a Cuban presidential run accordingly.

There is also increasing speculation that Cuban's sale of such a large stake in the Mavericks, specifically to Miriam Adelson, might be in preparation of and to help advocate for the legalization of gambling in Texas.
