2024 Presidential Election Odds Updates: Recent Odds Movement
President Joe Biden had been the favorite to win the 2024 presidential election according to the betting odds for much of the summer, but amid recent polling that shows flagging approval for Biden and an easy path to victory for former president Donald Trump in the Republican primary, Trump has re-emerged as the favorite according to the 2024 presidential election odds.
Former president Donald Trump's 2024 presidential election odds had moved from +225 to +240 following his indictment by the Justice Department in August on federal charges that he attempted to overturn the 2020 presidential election, before moving slightly longer to +250 after his indictment in Georgia. After he turned himself into law enforcement in Georgia in late August, they moved to +270.
But following the aforementioned polling, Trump's odds shortened significantly to +200, then again to +190 on Wednesday night.
President Joe Biden's odds to win the 2024 presidential election had been +180 before the recent polling, with that number moving to +225 as Trump's prospects have risen, then to +220 on Wednesday.
2024 Presidential Election Odds: Opening Odds to Win the Presidential Election
Donald Trump had opened as the favorite to win the 2024 presidential election at +250 in July last year, followed by Ron DeSantis at +300 and Joe Biden at +550.
Neither Vivek Ramaswamy nor Robert F. Kennedy Jr., meanwhile, were even listed on the opening odds last July.
Donald Trump's odds to win the 2024 presidential election had fallen back to as long as +350 following last November's midterms, pending investigations, and apparent momentum from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. However, as DeSantis' own campaign has run into questions, his odds have fallen.
Former President Trump first became an underdog to Joe Biden shortly after, when Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Jack Smith as special counsel to oversee the ongoing investigations.
