Tonight at 9 p.m. ET, President Donald Trump will deliver a primetime address from the White House, and prediction market traders are already staking positions on exactly what he'll say.

A market on Polymarket, the world's largest prediction platform, titled "What will Trump say during Address to the Nation on April 1?" has drawn over $5,700 in trading volume since it opened just hours ago. The market tracks 18 specific words and phrases traders expect, or don't expect, Trump to utter during the speech.

The way Polymarket works is that traders decide between a set of individual yes/no positions on whether Trump will mention specific words or phrases during the address. The current odds paint a vivid picture of what traders expect to dominate tonight's remarks:

"Operation Epic Fury" is the runaway leader, priced at 86¢, implying a 86% chance Trump will use the term. This is hardly surprising, as the operation is the centerpiece of his foreign policy right now.

"Hormuz" sits at 84%, reflecting the intense focus on the Strait of Hormuz and its significance as a global energy chokepoint. The closure of the strait has led to a global spike in energy prices, creating political problems for Trump at home and making it one of the most consequential geographic flashpoints of the conflict.

Three or more mentions of "Oil/Gas" is priced at 79%, underscoring how heavily energy markets and domestic fuel prices are expected to factor into Trump's messaging tonight.

"Ceasefire/Peace Deal" sits at 68%, reflecting the swirling diplomatic uncertainty around Iran's reported ceasefire request.

"Obliterated/Obliteration" is at 81%, a testament to Trump's well-documented rhetorical style when discussing military adversaries.

"God" (mentioned 3+ times) is priced at 55%, a nod to his frequent invocations of faith when addressing the nation on matters of war.

Meanwhile, traders are skeptical on a few fronts. "Crypto/Bitcoin" sits at just 6%, and "Six Seven," a reference to a specific geographic coordinate potentially related to bombing targets, is also at just 6%. The "-No Qualifying Event-" bucket, which would resolve "Yes" only if the speech is cancelled altogether, sits at just 3%.

Five Weeks Into a War, Trump Finally Addresses the Nation

Trump will deliver an "important update" on Operation Epic Fury, the U.S.-led military campaign against Iran. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced the primetime address late Tuesday, as the war enters its fifth week.

Operation Epic Fury was launched on February 28, 2026, as a joint U.S.-Israeli military operation against Iran. Within 24 hours, the attack resulted in the assassination of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, along with several senior aides, and the destruction of numerous military and security bases and installations.

In the lead-up to tonight's address, Trump told reporters that Operation Epic Fury was "two weeks ahead of schedule" and that "not much" more had to happen before declaring victory. He cited total regime change in Iran as a major factor, saying the new Iranian leadership had been "more reasonable."

The speech comes amid significant diplomatic and military turbulence. Earlier Wednesday, Trump posted on Truth Social that Iran had asked the United States for a ceasefire, saying he would only consider the request after the Strait of Hormuz is reopened. Iran's Foreign Ministry denied the claim, and the IRGC said the strait was "fully" under its control.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio also released a video this week laying out the rationale for the intervention, arguing it was necessary to degrade Iran's capacity to shield its nuclear program. "Iran was trying to build a conventional shield, in essence, have so many missiles, have so many drones that no one could attack them," Rubio said.

Trump's Words Move Real Markets: That's Why Traders Are Watching Every Syllable

"Mention markets" occupy a unique corner of the prediction market world, sitting somewhere between rigorous political analysis and real-time public sentiment tracking. They attract traders for several reasons.

First, there is the pure informational angle. Sophisticated traders follow Trump's rhetoric closely because his words move markets — financial markets, not just prediction markets. Signals about de-escalation versus extended military operations have direct consequences for oil prices, defense stocks, and broader geopolitical stability. Taking a position on whether Trump mentions "ceasefire" or "obliteration" is, in a sense, an informed view on the tone and direction of U.S. foreign policy.

Second, these markets reward deep knowledge of a public figure's rhetorical patterns. Traders who have followed Trump's speeches and Truth Social posts closely have an edge. They know, for instance, that he frequently invokes God in solemn national addresses and that terms like "obliterated" are a consistent part of his vocabulary when discussing military enemies.

Third, the markets resolve quickly and definitively as soon as the speech ends — the outcome is known. Shares in the correct outcome are redeemable for $1 each upon market resolution. This makes for clean, fast trading with immediate feedback.

Victory Lap, Ceasefire, or Escalation? The Speech Could Go Any Direction

The central question looming over tonight's address is whether Trump will declare victory in Iran, and if so, on what terms. Given public uncertainty about the war's aims, analysts are asking why he waited until now to deliver a formal address to the nation.

Trump has also indicated he is considering withdrawing the U.S. from NATO, citing European nations' unwillingness to join the conflict or patrol the Strait of Hormuz, a threat he may revisit in tonight's remarks.

For Polymarket traders, the clock is ticking. The market closes the moment the speech ends. Whether Trump declares victory, signals a ceasefire, or doubles down on military pressure, it's clear every word will carry real weight tonight.
