The Highlights
- #JOFFIFA rolled into the round of 16 with momentum (and a slight hangover).
- Mexico should pull another huge upset of favorite Brazil, while Belgium should stop Japan from pulling another upset in this World Cup.
Did you miss me? I took a couple of days off from writing, but I took zero days off from #JOFFIFA. The group stage ended nicely with a big day of winnings, and we're heading to the knockout stage with momentum.
I had a family dinner Friday (which meant alcohol) so I was pretty sure Saturday would be rough, but guess what? I won all my bets!
Ya girl drank last night so while she put in her #JOFFIFA bets, she's not very confident about them. Thankfully I didn't up the amount to $25 as I was planning to…that'll start tomorrow

That really set a dangerous precedent.
Sunday wasn't nearly as smooth. It wasn’t “puking, can't get out of bed hangover” rough, but it was definitely Gatorade, couch, take 100 total steps rough.
Shoutout to Vladimir Putin for making sure the VAR didn’t give a last-minute penalty kick to Spain, though. The conspiracy remains alive and well. Croatia on the other hand? Woof. I mean, they advanced, but it came down to the final penalty kick. That Denmark goalie is a baller, though. I’m going to miss those blondies.

Brazil vs. Mexico

There seem to be a lot of question marks for Brazil coming into this game thanks to various injuries, so whether or not they’ll be playing 100% is in doubt. Still, they're friggin' Brazil. They have Neymar and Coutinho. Mexico have already managed to take down the defending champions, so it’s really not out of the realm of possibility that they take down Brazil as well. I’m banking on the Mexicans at least keeping up. I really need Landon’s team to come through here.

Belgium vs. Japan
2 p.m. ET, FOX
I’m still mad at Japan for what happened in the Poland game, so I stand by my tweet saying they’re going to get thrashed in this match. In fact, I’ll even report myself to @OldTakesExposed if I’m wrong and Japan beat Belgium. I have no idea what lineup they’re going to be trotting out, but I really don't care. If they somehow manage to win, then I honestly have no idea what I’m doing, because Belgium should easily take care of these schmoes. I also think they’ll score a lot of goals. It’s gonna be really funny (sad) when Japan win 1-0.
